Welcome Back to the 2026–2027 School Year
Dear Hueneme Elementary School District Families and Community,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with opportunities to rest, recharge, and make lasting memories. It is my pleasure to welcome our returning families and extend a warm greeting to those joining the Hueneme Elementary School District for the first time.
As I begin my 11th year serving as Superintendent, I remain deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible community. Every new school year brings renewed excitement, fresh opportunities, and the promise of helping every student learn, grow, and thrive.
Our schools have been busy throughout the summer. Haycox and Hueneme Schools hosted several successful programs, including SHINE, Extended School Year (ESY), Catalyst Kids, and Migrant Summer School, providing enriching learning experiences for many of our students.
Behind the scenes, our Maintenance, Operations, and Custodial teams have worked diligently to prepare every campus for the first day of school. Their dedication ensures our schools are safe, welcoming, and ready to receive students and staff.
We are also excited to welcome several outstanding educational leaders to new roles within our district:
- Stacy Hunter-Stewart, Principal of Sunkist Elementary School
- Cyndi Delgado, Principal of Hollywood Beach Elementary School
- Monica Shallenberger, Principal of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program
- Saraswathi Nambi, Program Specialist, joining HESD from Simi Valley Unified School District
- Maricela Aguilar, Assistant Principal at Blackstock Junior High School, joining HESD from Ventura Unified School District
As we begin this school year together, our focus remains steadfast: providing every student with a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where they can achieve their full potential. We know that strong partnerships between schools, families, and our community are essential to student success, and we look forward to working together throughout the year.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children's education. We are honored to serve your family and are excited for all that the 2026–2027 school year will bring.
On behalf of the Board of Education and the entire Hueneme Elementary School District team, welcome back! We wish all of our students, families, and staff a successful, joyful, and inspiring school year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Christine Walker
