School uniforms are mandatory at Green JHS. Uniforms promote:
Safety – easy to tell at a glance if students belong here
Scholarship – dressing for academic success encourages learning
Creates a “level playing field” for social interactions – everyone is equal
If you come to school out of the proper uniform, you will be required to:
change into clean, school-issued uniforms
leave your non-uniform item with the office until the school issued uniform is returned
Clothes must fit properly – no baggy clothes are allowed
Please note:
Any designs (including lanyards or backpacks) which contain obscene, sexually explicit or suggestive text/ graphics, suggest or promote racism, violence, the use/abuse of drugs and/or alcohol products, or any other inappropriate or discriminatory image or words are never allowed. Including sports related affiliations.
NO Visible Undergarments (bra straps, boxers, etc.) or midriffs
NO body piercing jewelry, gauges, plugs, facial piercings except earrings
Green JHS dress code is strictly enforced. The administration has the right to declare if attire is appropriate for school or any school activity.
Here is the uniform dress code:
Pants, Shorts, Skirts, Jumpers:
Must be navy or khaki.
No longer than 1-inch past the bottom of the knee or shorter than the length of finger tips when arms are held directly to the side.
No basketball-style, athletic shorts or sweats.
No oversized or baggy sweatpants, sweatshirts, or sweat-shorts with big loose pockets such as cargo pants/shorts are allowed during PE or the school day. See picture for an example of what is not allowed.
No denim or jeans, no tight-fitting jeggings, tights or leggings as pants, no cut-offs, holes or unhemmed items.
Pants must fit properly. No oversized or clingy/tight clothing allowed. Don’t wear your P.E. shorts under your uniform. Do not wear baggy clothes during P.E. or throughout the school day.
Shirts
Must be white or navy collared shirt.
Button-down shirts or polo shirts only.
No tank tops, spaghetti straps; undershirts must be white.
Don’t wear your P.E. shirt under your uniform.
Any official Green JHS shirt may be worn instead of the uniform shirt.
Jackets and outerwear:
Must be solid white, navy blue, or gray.
Hoodies, crew neck sweatshirts, sweater vests or jackets are all o.k.! No windbreakers.
Must fit properly, not oversized. Hoods must remain off while on campus.
Any official Green JHS jackets may be worn instead of the uniform jacket.
Shoes
Must be closed-toed and worn at all times.
No sandals, slippers, heels, boots, flip-flops, clogs (ex. Crocs )– must be able to perform satisfactorily and safely in P.E.
Hats
Hats must not hide or obscure the face, or be distracting/disruptive to instruction.
Additional:
NO SPORTS LOGO ITEMS may be worn or brought to school.
Accessories must not distract/disrupt instruction
No earrings larger than ½” diameter.
No baggy or oversized clothes
No bare midriff, shoulders or back/chest
NO gang-related insignia/graffiti on clothing, backpack or school supplies/work
NO clothing with inappropriate or disrespectful writing, text or images
(alcohol, drugs, weapons, Old English style text, disrespectful statements).
Nothing that distracts from the learning environment is allowed.
If you violate these rules, expect to lose free time, change into loaned uniform, or call home to request change of attire.

NON-UNIFORM DRESS DRESS POLICY
Here is the uniform dress code. See your agenda for the Non-Uniform Dress Policy.
Pants, Shorts, Skirts, Jumpers:
No longer than 1 inch past the bottom of the knee or shorter than the length of finger tips when arms are held directly to the side.
No pajama bottoms.
No ripped jeans, no cut-offs, holes or unhemmed items.
Pants/non-ripped jeans must fit properly.
Shirts:
No tank tops, spaghetti straps, bare midriffs, low-cut tops, or see through blouses.
Must fit properly, not oversized (width and length).
Jackets and Outerwear:
Hoodies, crew neck sweatshirts, sweater vests or jackets are all o.k.!
Must fit properly, not oversized (width and length).
Beanies and hoods aren’t allowed if the temperature is over 60 degrees.
Other Items Not Allowed:
Gang-related insignia/graffiti on clothing, backpack or school supplies/work, no sports logos; this includes hats.
Clothing with inappropriate writing or images (alcohol, drugs, weapons, disrespectful statements).
No open-toed shoes (sandals or Crocs)
Students aren’t allowed to be dressed in all black.
Nothing that distracts from the learning environment is allowed.
